Christ over Culture

I was talking with one of my friends last night. We had a great conversation; during it, we spoke about God and what we feel He’s calling us to right now. We spoke about how we want to live holy lives and be examples of purity to those around us. All great things but all just words if we never put action behind them. 

A common thing I find myself doing is having a conversation that sets me on fire but instead of sitting before God and laying it at His feet I sit before my phone screen looking for confirmation for this fire I’m feeling! 

Call me silly or “Raca” even you’d be right! This is what constantly happens to me. God gives me a word, and I run with it for all of 30 seconds like those runners with starting blocks, but instead of using the blocks to push off and start running I push off and go nowhere. In my shame, I don’t want to return to the blocks so I stand there, in between running and starting again just simply accomplishing nothing! 

I can’t imagine what God must feel when He fully hands us His vision for our lives, telling us what to do —exactly what we’ve been praying for— and instead of taking it and running with it we take it and sit on it! We stand there saying “God this is too much”, “God I’ll start tomorrow” or “God I’m waiting for when it feels right because I don’t feel it right now” this is my most used one! How can I tell God, who created me and gave me the vision that when the time feels right then I’ll do it? 

This is my admonishment not only to you but to myself! Do what God has called you to do, do it now! Stop sitting around waiting for the perfect timing or for everything to feel right and then starting, do it now! When it feels uncomfortable, when it’s time-consuming, when it’s making you check your priorities. Do it now! 

Radical but worldly represents us when we’re radical in speech but never in actions. Radical on the phone with our friends, radical in the walls of the church but that radicalness never touches anyone, it’s all talk with no action! Take the word, the nudge, the vision that God gave you, and run with it! Run fast because you have an enemy out there who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy that very thing God gave you, stop giving him the chance to do so! 

Run with His vision into the world instead of letting the world run you!
